MacDermid is looking to fill the following positions:

Position: Technical Team Leader/Supervisor
Reports to: Director of Finance and Operations
Pay Level: Commensurate with experience

Summary:
This person will manage a staff of 4-6 engineers who support the operation, maintenance, and improvement of a thermoplastic extrusion-based chemical manufacturing facility. This job will include working with R&D, Marketing, Sales and Suppliers to clarify requirements/expectations, as well as securing project and program approvals and engineering change. Will manage technical team and oversee leadership of projects to implement programs that are critical to the success of the business. Manage the professional development of staff. Perform all other duties as requested. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance and Operations.

General requirements:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• This position requires not only key technical abilities but must also an ability to facilitate and direct work with other functional areas. This person must foster a spirit of team work within the technical team. Will be a resource for operators for troubleshooting, training, etc and be available after hours.
• Must understand manufacturing costs, yields, and opportunities to reduce and drive programs to improve quality, reduce costs and increase capacity
• Have a good understanding of extrusion - based systems, liquid and solid feed systems, and flexible web systems.
• Provide leadership to the technical team as they work with manufacturing, quality control, and R&D on process improvement. A hands on manager, analyzing the problems/processes and working with the team to improve them.
• Experience and training in Six Sigma quality tools is desirable.
• Must establish strong relationships with suppliers and drive programs to reduce our raw material costs while improving quality.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in concise business language to all levels of upper management in order to propose and demonstrate effective solutions to meet business objectives and report regularly on the status of the technical team's projects.
• Participate in and/or initiate cross functional teams in the pursuit of problem solving and mistake - proofing quality problems.

Requirements and Experience:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 5 + years previous flexible web and extrusion experience.
• 5 + years supervisory or technical team leader experience.
• Working knowledge of advanced statistical methods, root cause analysis, process control, operation principles, ISO 14000 and ISO 9000 systems, and computer operations.
• Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
